The Penza Region is located in the central part of European Russia, 620 kilometers southeast of Moscow, on the crossroads of the main north-to-south
and west-to-east transport routes. Its favorable geographical location and
proximity to other large industrial centers open door to cooperation with other
regions in industrial production and products distribution.
Our Region boasts political stability, social consensus, and favorable legislative and tax climate for investors and trade partners—all these factors open broad opportunities for cooperation. We have all that is needed for such cooperation: a considerable industrial potential, a powerful construction industry, bountiful agricultural resources, an advanced transport system and telecommunications network, and skilled human resources.
The investment boom that the Region is enjoying today is largely due to
the ongoing process of creation of a legislative framework ensuring protection
of investor rights, improvements in the tax base, incentives for the population
to invest their savings in industry, increase in leasing business, and our efforts to encourage foreign investors. The Region’s government is interested in attracting investment, including foreign investment, mostly with a view to increasing production of goods that can be exported or can replace imports.
Both industry and agriculture play an important role in the Region’s economy,
industry being the leading sector of the economy. The total number of industrial enterprises is over 1,500, with approximately 100,000 employees. As far as agriculture is concerned, the climatic condition allow the Region to produce grain, sunflower, sugar beet, beef, pork, poultry meat, eggs, and milk. There are approximately 500 agricultural enterprises and over 2,200 farms. The Region is a major producer of food products and is one of those Russian regions which can fully cover local demand with locally produced food.
Many Penza enterprises are leaders in their respective industry sectors and
hold international quality certificates. Some of the most important types of goods produced by our machine engineering plants include equipment for chemical industry, equipment for oil and gas industry, diesel engines, compressors, spinning machines, special motor vehicles, petrol stations, and agricultural machinery. Instrument and apparatus plants specialize in manufacturing radio-electronic devices, communication and computing devices, and automated control system.
Both of the above sectors offer good opportunities for investors. Investing
in agriculture, wood processing, pharmaceutics industry, and services is also promising.
Our Region is rich in cultural traditions and boasts a great number of historical
and architectural sites, including the Tarkhany estate, which is a State Reserve
Museum of the famous Russian poet Lermontov. Thanks to the Region’s
unique natural environment, it has an extensive network of sanatoria and health resorts, as well as many picturesque areas for recreation, hunting, and fishing.
Everyone who visits our Region will have some unforgettable and lasting
memories of our land.
