GOVERNOR OF THE OREL REGION
High level of development of science, industry and agriculture and great
industrial potential have become one of the most significant factors of
great investment appeal of the Orel Region. The result of the XI Orel-2007 Regional Investment Fair was contracts for more than $1.7 billion, that is equivalent to nearly four yearly budgets of the Orel Region. Besides, a series of multi-million contracts are to be concluded soon. Among others,
the major projects being already realized are construction of the second complex of facilities of the insulin plant, setting up facilities for conveyor assembly of tractors, and increasing the capacity of the Velor ceramic facing tile plant. An expansion of production of commercial refrigeration equipment has been planned.
Enterprises founded by both Russian and foreign investors work successfully
in the Region. There is a series of large agricultural holdings, such as Orlovskaya Niva, dozens of agricultural companies and hundreds of farms that produce high quality food products not only for local consumers, but for other regions of Russia and some foreign countries as well.
The national priority projects have given additional impetus to further forward
development of the Orel Region. Due to them the volume of residential construction and agricultural production is greater, and the materials and equipment supply of hospitals and educational institutions is better. Soft loans given to personal households and farms create favorable conditions for production of goods in agriculture.
A series of large projects for development of meat and dairy animal farming
and poultry farming is being successfully realized in the Region within the
Development of the Agroindustrial Sector national priority project. The most
significant of the projects is to boost pig farming in ZAO AVK Eksima in the
nearest future first up to 500 thousand head of high-efficiency breeding pigs, and then up to 1 million head.
Small and medium enterprises develop successfully in the Region. They
take on more and more new activities. Constantly growing share of the goods
and services produced by such companies and year-to-year increase in the
number of people employed by them bespeaks it.
The Orel Region enjoys high research and education potential. Orel boasts
eight domestic institutions of higher education and four branches of major national universities. Therefore Orel, the capital of the Region, is rightfully called a university city. Every institution of higher education has close business relations with leading Russian and foreign institutions of higher education, conducting regular experience exchange, including exchange student, teacher and post-graduate student trips.
The basis of successful development of industries, social sphere, and researches is a purposeful policy conducted by the Regional Administration to support enterprise and to create respectful attitude to investors and earn the trust in the Orel Region as a reliable business partner.
We do not limit ourselves to our current achievements. We are actively
working on performing the tasks set forth by President of Russia Vladimir Putin, aiming at developing the economy and the social sphere, solving the problem of lack of residential premises, supporting business, boosting national culture, the Russian language, and improving the living standard of the population.
We are committed to introducing new technologies and methods and to
creating conditions conducive to mutual understanding between manufacturers and investors concerning their mutual benefits and prospects of development.
