One and a half decades ago, Russia took a new course of its economic,
ideological, and social development. We learned well what the former Russia was, with its state-controlled economy and its tough power vertical.
Now we dream of Russia to come, an economically prosperous country with
a developed and efficient democracy, united in its forward movements.
We are just beginning to understand present-day Russia and we are
learning, while overcoming the pessimism of last 15 years, to be at least realists if not optimists.
I can now gladly state that the present conditions of economic development
of the Republic of North Ossetia – Alania are totally different to ones of the
former years. The social and economic development indicators place the Republic among the most dynamically developing regions of the Russian Federation.
Our economic priorities include industrial growth, development of small enterprise, spas, and resorts, and strengthening the budgetary and tax discipline.
Each of those areas are being actively worked on, and specific results are
already demonstrated. For example, projects in the mountainous part of Ossetia have been successfully implemented under a program for spa, resort,
and tourism development in the North Caucasus. Dozens of types of businesses in the Republic now enjoy lower tax rates compared to other regions of the Russian Federation.
I am totally sure that a policy that encourages creation of conditions conducive
to fastest development of business in the Republic is the only one opening a
way to our common goal, to economic stability and social prosperity.
The truth is that Russia’s strength comes from its regions, and here I am addressing the realistically thinking business people of Russia and foreign countries: Ossetia has all the conditions needed for financial success of any investment project and for fruitful business partnership.
