The Kostroma Region is a very promising area from the standpoint of attracting Russian and foreign investors thanks to its vast natural resources, developing infrastructure, restoring economy, and forming new HR resources.
Our region has all the prerequisites for its successful development. It has an advantageous geographical location. Transit trunk railroads, waterways and highways cross the region. The earth is rich in clays and loams used in production of bricks, haydite raw materials, construction sands, raw materials for production of mineral cotton and cement, glass sand and molding sand, construction lime, and powdered lime. The Region enjoys sufficient power supply thanks to the Kostroma State District Power Station, one of the largest and most technically perfect in European Russia. Over 74% of the Region’s territory is covered with coniferous and small-leaved forests.
All this provides for implementing large investment projects in forestry and
wood processing, the agroindustrial sector, machine engineering, electricity, gas and water supply, metals, and other activities.
Investment projects of national significance are being realized in the Region,
such as an investment project of OOO Kronostar, a largest investment program, with the total volume of investment exceeding EUR 350 million. A project is being implemented at the Volgorechensk Pipe Plant in cooperation with OAO Gazprom, with the total volume of investment equaling about EUR 240 million. A successful investment project has been realized at OAO Fanplit in order to produce large-size glued plywood. In the first half of this year investment contracts have been signed with OAO ASPEC, a Russian company, stipulating the construction of a pulp and paper mill in the Kostroma Region, as well as with IKEA Group, stipulating the creation of a wood processing enterprise. The combined value of the two investment contracts exceeds EUR 1.4 billion.
The Kostroma Region has a typical Russian landscape. It has a unique relic
forest, the only moose farm in Europe, and the Shchelykovo State Memorial and Natural Museum-Reserve of Alexander Ostrovskiy, as well as over 2,500 monuments of archeology, architecture, history and art, 300 of them of federal significance. Bright and impressive brands, such as “Kostroma Region, the native land of Snow Maiden”, “Kostroma City – the cradle of the House of Romanov”, “Ivan Susanin, a patriot of the Russian Land”, “Kostroma, the jewelry capital of Russia”, “Kostroma, a gem in the Golden Ring of Russia”, and others make the Kostroma Region an attractive land for tourism development.
We seek to develop good relations, efficient economic links, and an extensive
cultural and humanitarian exchange. The Region is open to investment projects. We are glad to cooperate with and are ready to support all those who arrive to the Kostroma Region with mutually beneficial suggestions.
