Now in its 3rd successful edition the Guide represents the most comprehensive compilation of data for all regions of Russia.
A unique 1370 page information resource with full colour charts, graphs & maps from CTEC Publishing LLC, completely revised for 2008 and available in Print, or Regional PDF files.
Located between the Volga River and the Ural Mountains, the Kirov Region
is one of the largest regions of the European part of Russia. A network of
highways and railroads connects it with other Russian regions and forms
transit corridors to the northern seaports, Siberia and the Far East. The Region’s main water artery is the Vyatka river, after which the Region is sometime called the Vyatka land.
The Region’s economy is rapidly growing. Many manufacturing enterprises
carry out major investment projects.
In the agricultural sector, a number of high-tech agro holdings have been
created, and investment volumes are increasing. As a result, the output of agricultural enterprises is growing, and the agricultural business is becoming more profitable.
Expanding inter-regional and international economic and cultural relationships
is a priority task of the Region’s Government.
We encourage creation of new and modernization of existing manufacturing
enterprises in all sectors of economy; we create a favorable climate for reliable and profitable capital investments. We are implementing a target program
named Enhancing Investment Appeal, Attracting New Investments, and New
Technologies in the Economy of the Kirov Region in 2007-2009.
International rating agencies have assigned high ratings to the Region’s credit status. We have developed the Region’s Passport containing information for investors, and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Russian Federation has recommended it as a model for other Russian regions.
In terms of production volume, the following economy sectors are in the lead: machine engineering and metal processing, chemical and petrochemical
industry, energy, forestry, timber, pulp and paper, and food products and beverages. During the recent years, ferrous and non-ferrous metal industries have been actively developing.
Our applied science and bio-industry show a lot of promise as well. With a view to developing that sector, a former science and production base of the
Ministry of Defense Research Institute of Microbiology was converted into an
inter-university center. A pilot scientific production base in Omutninsk is also
used for that purpose. In 2007, construction of one of the largest in Europe
blood processing plants began in Kirov.
As far as the Region’s raw resources are concerned, the most important ones
include forests, the Europe-largest phosphorite deposits, virtually inexhaustible reserves of minerals used in manufacturing construction materials, rich mineral water and healing dirt sources.
Products of the Region’s enterprises are well known in more than 40 extra-
CIS countries. Hopefully, the investment projects offered for this Guide by the Region’s enterprises will help us find even more business partners. We are ready for serious, mutually beneficial cooperation, and we are happy to see our potential partners in the hospitable Vyatka land.
