Nikolay Denin,
GOVERNOR OF THE BRYANSK REGION

The Bryansk Region... Crystal clear lakes, slowly flowing rivers, ship-mast
pines growing on sandy soils, leafy groves and forests. It is over a thousand
years ago that a town named Bryansk rose on a steep bank of the beautiful
Desna River. It was standing on the western frontier of the forming Russian state, as a warrior town, a town of guard. Numerous war fires blazed through the city, yet again and again did it rise from ruins and ashes, rebuilding itself and maturing.
Now it is a center of the Region which lies on the border of three states –
Russia, Ukraine and Belarus. The roots of the three Slavonic nations have interwoven here.
Renowned is the Bryansk land for feats of arms, from Peresvet the Monk to
the partisan republic during World War II. It is not a coincidence that there is a
cannon with balls on the historic coat-of-arms of Bryansk, as the guns made by Arsenal, the Region’s oldest enterprise, roared on the battlefield of Borodino and on the Shipka Pass where Russian troops covered themselves with glory.
The Bryansk Region has a large machine engineering sector; it is also an important transport junction. Crucial railway and road lines cross here; oil and gas trunk pipelines pass through the Region, too.
Positive investment trends for the last years are an indication of business appeal of the Region. It can be said with certainty that the Region is rapidly changing from an investment backyard it used to be to an area with ever-improving business and investment climate, a region interested in fair and steady partnership and cooperation.
But our main treasure is our people, hard-working, talented and persistent
in achieving their goals. Our home is invested by our people with eternal youthfulness which is nonetheless wise.
